Let Nordic help you deliver the wireless connectivity solution that gamers demand

Nordic Semiconductor’s wireless technology has been at the heart of every gaming controller since consoles and PCs first began ditching wired connections in the early 2000s. Today, Nordic’s SoCs continue to set the best-in-class, de facto standard for wireless in the gaming industry.

Battery-powered, wireless gaming devices (mice, keyboards, controllers, and headsets) demand ultra-robust wireless on-air performance and low latency without compromising on power consumption. In fact, no one is pickier and more sensitive to glitches in a wireless connection than gamers. Their gaming avatar’s life, and a few hundred hours of their gaming life, are both on the line.

Why proprietary is still best

Thanks to the multiprotocol radio embedded into every Nordic SoC, Nordic customers can leverage Nordic’s 2.4GHz proprietary tech in a completely optimized way that goes far beyond what any standards-based wireless technology or protocol could hope to achieve.

This includes full customization of every aspect of the operating software in the gaming controller and the development of truly differentiated devices with unique features.

Nordic’s nRF Desktop reference design is the starting point for gaming applications. It is built on the latest Nordic nRF Connect SDK and includes a complete Gaming Mouse reference design. Currently supporting nRF52 Series SoCs, this same software is pre-optimized for porting to Nordic’s latest nRF54 Series SoCs.

Besides gaming mice, the same reference design can be used for gamepads and other gaming controllers, for use in PC, mobile, or cloud gaming, and gaming headsets.

Power Management ICs

Nordic Semiconductor leverages its extensive experience in ultra-low-power wireless technology to develop power management ICs (PMIC) and integrated circuits, enabling industry-leading low power wireless solutions.

Range extenders

The range and link robustness of Nordic nRF52 and nRF53 Series SoCs fulfill the requirements of most applications and use-cases, but sometimes adding a range extender/RF front end module (FEM) is the correct choice.
