Murata’s Passive Starter Kits offer capacitors, inductors, crystals, and balun in one package, providing users with the passive components they require for design prototyping from a single source

Nordic Semiconductor today announces that Murata has released Passive Starter Kits for the peripheral circuitry to support Nordic’s award-winning nRF51 and nRF52 Series Bluetooth® Low Energy Systems-on-Chip (SoCs). The kits include the peripheral components required to assemble reference designs and evaluate the SoCs for designs using Bluetooth LE, ANT, and 2.4GHz ultra low-power wireless applications.

The EKSM-PND51X22A-KIT passive starter kit supports Nordic’s nRF51422 SoC and nRF51822 SoC, while the EKSM-PND52X32A-KIT kit supports Nordic’s nRF52832 SoC, and nRF52810 SoC. Both starter kits offer ceramic capacitors, inductors, crystals, and balun in one package.

“There are a lot of various customers, particularly in the IoT space, who are using Nordic SoCs and reference designs who have to buy passive components from various online distributors,” says Ryosuke Tanimoto, Murata Product Manager, Europe, Timing Devices. “By releasing these passive starter kits, we can support these various customers by offering the passive components they require for their designs from a single source, allowing them to quickly order and then easily start evaluation of the Nordic SoCs for their application.”

Nordic’s nRF52 Series Bluetooth LE SoCs combine an ARM® M4F processor with a 2.4GHz multiprotocol radio, featuring -96dB RX sensitivity, with 512kB Flash memory and 64kB RAM. The SoCs support Bluetooth 5, ANT, and proprietary 2.4GHz RF applications. The SoCs are supplied with Nordic’s S132 SoftDevice, a Bluetooth 5 qualified RF software protocol stack for building advanced Bluetooth LE applications.

Nordic’s nRF51 Series SoCs are powerful and flexible multiprotocol SoCs ideally suited for Bluetooth LE, ANT, and 2.4GHz ultra low-power wireless applications. The SoCs are built around a 32-bit ARM Cortex™ M0 CPU, 2.4GHz multiprotocol radio, and 256kB/128kB Flash and 32kB/16kB RAM. The SoCs are supplied with Nordic’s S130 SoftDevice, a Bluetooth 4.2 qualified concurrent multi-link protocol stack solution supporting simultaneous Central/Peripheral/Broadcaster/Observer role connections.
