Nordic Semiconductor partners with major Korean distributor to provide local procurement, design, and technical support for ultra low power wireless solutions.
Uniquest to supply Nordic’s complete range of wireless connectivity hardware, firmware, development tools, and reference designs to thriving local design and manufacturing sector

Nordic Semiconductor today announces it has signed a new distribution agreement with Uniquest, an established electronics component distributor and technical representative based in Seongnam-Si, Korea. The deal covers the distribution of Nordic’s Bluetooth® Low Energy, ANT+, IEEE 802.15.4, and 2.4GHz proprietary ultra low power (ULP) wireless connectivity solutions across Korea.

Uniquest not only provides full service procurement for electronic components and products, but also RF hardware and firmware design services and technical support expertise. The company will supply Nordic’s complete range of ULP wireless connectivity hardware, firmware, development tools, and reference designs, including the recently launched nRF52840 System-on-Chip (SoC), an advanced multiprotocol device supporting Bluetooth 5, ANT, IEEE 802.15.4, and 2.4GHz proprietary technologies, and the nRF52810 SoC, a high-performance, entry level Bluetooth 5 multiprotocol device.

Uniquest is one of the largest semiconductor distribution companies in Korea with a broad knowledge of the market and a substantial existing customer network.

Established in 1993, Uniquest has more than 150 employees—including 57 Field Application Engineers (FAE) and 48 Field Sales Engineers (FSE)—across multiple locations, with inventory held locally. The company’s business is focused on five distinct market segments; mobile devices, smart home, networking infrastructure, automotive, and industrial. The company’s subsidiary, Dreamtech, designs and manufactures a range of sensors and modules for smartphone, biometric, and automotive applications.

Nordic Semiconductor is number one globally when it comes to Bluetooth LE wireless solutions,” says Brian Kim, Uniquest Sales VP. “Which is why we see huge potential in adding Nordic Semiconductor to our product portfolio and giving our customers access to cutting edge Bluetooth LE and IoT wireless technologies.”

“Uniquest is one of the largest semiconductor distribution companies in Korea with a broad knowledge of the market and a substantial existing customer network,” says Sean Choi, Nordic Semiconductor Regional Sales Manager, Korea. “The fact Uniquest has more Field Application Engineers than sales staff shows the company’s commitment to technical support, which will allow it to make a significant contribution to Nordic’s customer base in this important market.”
