The ‘Danalock V3’ smart lock integrates Nordic’s nRF52832 SoC allowing users to wirelessly control, share, and monitor their door lock via the companion smartphone app

Nordic Semiconductor today announces that Denmark-based smart home IoT company Poly-Control Aps, has selected Nordic’s award-winning nRF52832 Bluetooth® Low Energy System-on-Chip (SoC) for its ‘Danalock V3’, a retrofit smart door lock that attaches to a manual door lock to provide a complete smart door entry and security solution.

Danalock V3 is a Bluetooth LE-enabled smart lock that can be fitted to existing door locks easing installation and preventing disruption. The smart lock features Nordic’s nRF52832 SoC for Bluetooth LE connectivity with Bluetooth v4.0 (and later) iOS and Android smartphones. The smart lock is compact (measuring 6 by 6 cm), features a modern, streamlined design, and incorporates AES-256 security to protect against breaches. Bluetooth LE wireless technology’s low-latency response ensures rapid response to unlocking signals.

Danalock V3 eliminates the need to carry door keys or replace a door lock when keys are lost or stolen, and users can configure and control the smart lock via the smartphone companion app. Users can grant temporary or permanent lock access by sending an email or SMS to another person, such as a private contractor, colleague, friend or family member, and subsequently receive notifications whenever the lock is used. In addition, the primary Danalock owner can erase the entry permission at any time.

The smart lock’s four CR123A extra long-life batteries last for approximately 9000 cycles (or one year based on average use) due in part to the ultra low power characteristics of the Nordic SoC.

Poly-Control Aps’ open Application Programming Interface (API) allows developers to build custom applications for Danalock V3 and create their own iOS and Android mobile apps.
The Danalock V3 is the smartest, smallest, safest, fastest, and strongest smart lock available. We use the nRF52832 SoC in the Danalock V3 because of its functionality, price and performance.

Nordic’s nRF52832 Bluetooth LE SoC, a member of Nordic’s sixth generation of ultra low power (ULP) wireless connectivity solutions, combines an 64MHz, 32-bit ARM® Cortex® M4F processor ARM M4F processor with a 2.4GHz multiprotocol radio (supporting Bluetooth 5, ANT™, and proprietary 2.4GHz RF software) featuring -96dB RX sensitivity, with 512kB Flash memory and 64kB RAM. When launched, the SoC was the world’s highest performance single-chip Bluetooth LE solution.

The SoC is supplied with Nordic’s S132 SoftDevice, a Bluetooth 5-certifed RF software protocol stack for building advanced Bluetooth LE applications. The S132 SoftDevice Central, Peripheral, Broadcaster and Observer Bluetooth LE roles, supports up to twenty connections, and enables concurrent role operation.

“The Danalock V3 is the smartest, smallest, safest, fastest, and strongest smart lock available. We use the nRF52832 SoC in the Danalock V3 because of its functionality, price and performance,” says Hans Overgaard, Poly-Control Co-founder and CEO.

“Poly-Control Aps chooses to work with Nordic Semiconductor for its fantastic support system and professionalism, as well as its innovative, high-quality products.”
