Nordic Semiconductor today announces it has signed a new distribution agreement with Lierda Science & Technology Group Co., Ltd, a Hangzhou, China-based company focused on embedded systems, machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions, and design services across China, Hong Kong, and Macau. The deal covers distribution and design support for Nordic’s Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth LE), ANT+, IEEE 802.15.4, and 2.4GHz proprietary ultra low power (ULP) wireless connectivity solutions to makers, start-ups, and established OEMs.
The company will supply Nordic’s complete range of ULP wireless connectivity hardware, firmware, development tools, and reference designs, including the high-end nRF52840 System-on-Chip (SoC)—an advanced multiprotocol device supporting Bluetooth 5, ANT, IEEE 802.15.4, and 2.4GHz proprietary technologies—as well as the nRF52811 SoC, a new, fully-featured connectivity solution that supports Bluetooth 5.1 Direction Finding and a range of popular low power wireless protocols for applications such as gateways for smart home and industry products.
“Nordic Semiconductor is a Bluetooth Low Energy leader, with high performance SoCs, development tools, and reference designs that provide a significant competitive advantage,” says Kai Chen, VP IoT Business, Lierda. “This is matched perfectly with Lierda, and our focus on wireless IoT, industrial, smart home, consumer, and medical solutions. Further we have very strong wireless and RF experience, and offer comprehensive design expertise. We see this as a perfect fit.”
“Lierda perfectly complements Nordic’s existing distribution arrangements in China,” says Wendell Boyd, Nordic Semiconductor’s Director of Sales and Marketing - APAC. “It is geographically well situated in Hangzhou to focus on a potential new customer base in north and central China, as well offering a very design-focused approach to support local developers. This profile matches Nordic’s desire to make its low power wireless connectivity solutions available to the widest possible audience.
“There is a huge opportunity in China in building technology, automation, and smart home solutions, and this is not only a strength for Lierda, but a key market for Nordic. We anticipate a highly successful partnership.”
